Pearl Harbor Under Attack!

December 7th 1941, a day America will never forget. The element of suprise is what Japan really had in their advantage in this attack. This attack caught the US Navy totally off guard. Even though Japan completly destroyed our navy they failed to take out the most important things. Which is our oil supply and repaired barges. Its kind of weird with this war when the enemy attacks and destroys their target. It just gives the other side momentum and raises their moral, and it just makes them fight harder against the enemy.

  1. Agreed. I don't think the Japanese could have asked for better results from the attack on Pear Harbor. However, there were some flaws like you said in not destroying the oil supply and the three American aircraft carriers that were gone during the attack.

  2. yeah it is really weird that it boosts the peoples who just got attacked morale i also think that if they had destroyed the oil supply and the repair places it wouldhave been a completley different story

  3. I agree Cooper. Its also really ironic how with both the Blitz on London and Pearl Harbor that the enemies called off the 3rd phase of attack which potentially could have annihilated their targets.

  4. Yeah it was a very supprising attack. It caused the u.s. to have a mini navy, but we still had the oil supply and all so we were able to rebuild it up again. so thats where japan slacked as thier attack

  5. I thought it was very unfair for the Japanese to attack suprisingly but you have a point it made us want to attack and fight with a reason and more encouragement to join the war and attack the enemy.
